quote

A.J. Styles has signed and is going to be given a major push as a singles headliner, to work with all the big guns, with a title shot at Kazuchika Okada coming sooner than later.
4
Jun Akiyama and Masa Fuchi have taken over as bookers for this group.
2
Fenix has moved to San Diego and is trying to mostly work in the U.S. and only go to Mexico for major shows, similar to Taya who has moved to Los Angeles.
2
More than 17,000 fans, a standing room only crowd, paid in excess of $1 million, for CMLL's 81st anniversary show at Arena Mexico in Mexico City. In doing so, CMLL has become only the second promotion ever to run in the North, South or Central America (WWE obviously being the other) to ever draw a $1 million gate.
2
Dynamite Kansai became the first JWP world champion beating Cutie Suzuki on 12/1 at Tokyo's Ota Ward Gym in the tournament final.
2
The debut of the new El Hijo de Rey Misterio took place on 5/27 in Tijuana. Both the original Rey Misterio (Miguel Lopez, the uncle of the WWE wrestler) and Konnan introduced the new Rey, who had been wrestling as a prelim wrestler Horus on area shows. He is not related to either Lopez or Oscar Gutierrez, who is the WWE version. Lopez’s real son had done the role and got similar tattoos and contacts as the WWE version and worked a lot of indies in the U.S. and was probably the biggest independent wrestling draw in the U.S. now that El Hijo del Santo rarely comes, but he grew tired of the business.
2
Terrible's title run was mostly noted for how little the title meant. It was so bad that the last time Terrible even defended the title was in November 2013.
2
Michael Elgin and wife Rachel Collins (who wrestled as MsChif), had their first child, a son, named Jax, born on 9/4
2
The Dominion show will be the biggest event for the company since the Tokyo Dome, and for the past several years has been one of the company’s showcase events.
2
April Jeanette, 23, started wrestling independently in New Jersey after graduating high school. While doing independents, she attended NYU's Tisch School of the Arts in New York City. She's got by far the most wrestling experience, and will be far and away the best in-ring worker. She's small and has the cute look, and was at one time the girlfriend of TNA's Jay Lethal.
2
The reason Regal was in Japan . . . was due to doing the tryout session. They had six men and two women at the session, which included . . . Hikaru Shida, a popular woman wrestler. . . .

Jeff Katz's Wrestling Revolution Project taped its first season in Los Angeles this past week. [...] Also getting a good reaction was Pat Buck, under the name Muncie Magee.
1
Jeff Katz’s Wrestling Revolution Project taped its first season in Los Angeles this past week. [...] Joey Ryan is a babyface who plays the role of being gay, but is as far from the stereotype gay character in pro wrestling. There are no effeminate mannerisms, it's just noted that he’s gay. He has actress Trish LaFache as his valet and uses the name Chase Walker.
1
Jeff Katz's Wrestling Revolution Project taped its first season in Los Angeles this past week. [...] Among the best matches were Hyde vs. Lord of War, Hyde vs. Killshot and Cornerstone vs. Johnny 99 (Luke Gallows).
1
The reason Regal was in Japan . . . was due to doing the tryout session. They had six men and two women at the session, which included . . . Seiya Sanada, who still lives in the U.S. but flew to Japan to get a tryout. . . .
1
He announced his name as Angel Reyes, actually Angel Omar Reyes Franco, of Lagos de Moreno, saying he had eight years of experience.
1
Masayuki Kono is the latest to publicly say he's leaving when his contract expires. He said he's talked to both Nobuo Shiraishi and Keiji Muto, and it was Muto who brought him back to pro wrestling (he had left for MMA) so that's who he's staying with. He said in his mind it's not All Japan without Muto.
1
Jeff Katz's Wrestling Revolution Project taped its first season in Los Angeles this past week. [...] Sami Callihan & Alex Zikos are a tag team called Satanic & Profitable, or S&P.
1
JWP finishing up its final tour before it goes out of business drew 1,132 on 1/18 in Hiroshima as Pink Cadillac & Cutie Suzuki beat three girls in a handicap match and Harley Saito & Devil Masami beat Eagle Sawai & Dynamite Kansai.
1
The All Together Now show on 8/27 which saw All Japan, New Japan and Pro Wrestling NOAH all work together for the biggest all-star show of its type in more than a decade raised $769,211 for the Earthquake victims relief fund.
1
The biggest news of the week in Japan is that after Sunday afternoon's show at Korakuen Hall, the JWP promotion announced it was folding. The death of the group, the least popular of all the promotions running full-time schedules in Japan, wasn't unexpected and had been rumored since late last year. It is expected that with the ending of the JWP group that two of its wrestlers, Rumi Kazama and Shinobu Kandori, were going to approach Hachiro Tanaka (who already owns SWS and PWF and apparently is going sponsor Antonio Inoki in some ways) about financing a new women's promotion which would employ most of the old JWP women. No word if All Japan Women will hire any of the JWP wrestlers who are now out of wrestling work.
1
The 2/3 main event saw Masato Tanaka retained the Never Open Weight title pinning Tomohiro Ishii in 23:27 with the Sliding D. That match was said to be as good if not better than any match at the Tokyo Dome. There were reports it was the best match so far this year. It was so good that many of the wrestlers came out of the dressing room to watch it. These are probably the two most underrated guys in the business.
1
The 6/12 show at Arena Mexico had Ultimo Guerrero defending the CMLL heavyweight title against Rush. They split the first two falls, first going 2:30 and second only going :50, before Guerrero used the reverse superplex in the third fall, which went 13:00.
1
AAA ran one of its annual big events, Heroes Inmortales on 10/9 at Arena Monterrey, before 8,000 fans, or slightly more than half full.
1
Regarding Sting, he didn't sign with TNA. I guess because it was on Raw, and built to a date for a live Raw in Fresno (which people thought was only a few hours from where Sting lives, but Sting actually moved from Santa Clarita, CA to Dallas last year) and people saw Nash and Booker, they came up with the idea the videos were to introduce Sting.
1
Jeff Katz’s Wrestling Revolution Project taped its first season in Los Angeles this past week. [...] Kenny Omega, known as Scott Carpenter, was the star, with strong matches against Chris Masters (known as Concrete) and Killshot (Karl Anderson).
1
JWP's first television show aired on WOWOW channel on 7/10 featuring a hot 27:00 main event with Dynamite Kansai & Plum Mariko vs. Devil Masami & Cutie Suzuki that was in the four-star range.
1
Jeff Katz’s Wrestling Revolution Project taped its first season in Los Angeles this past week. [...] MVP is now The Lord of War, and dresses up and wrestles like Masahiro Chono, including using the STF and Yakuza kick as his big moves.
1
The big news is that "They" are going to be the return of the Main Event Mafia. The idea is to be Sting, Kurt Angle, Kevin Nash, Scott Steiner and Booker T. I've also heard Bobby Lashley's name mentioned by those in the company.
1
Mini star Mascarita Dorada quit the promotion.

Jeff Katz’s Wrestling Revolution Project taped its first season in Los Angeles this past week. [...] Chris Hero, as Chris Hyde, also had great matches.
1
8/9 Tokyo (JWP - 1,505): JWP tag team title tournament first round: Cutie Suzuki & Mayumi Ozaki b Plum Mariko & Hikari Fukuoka, Dynamite Kansai & Sumiko Saito b Devil Masami & Boirshoi Kid, Finals: Ozaki & Suzuki b Saito & Kansai 18:37 Ozaki pinned Saito with Tiger suplex.
1
Next major JWP show is 5/23 in Yashio. The new JWP consists of ten women and it's like PWF and UWFI where they pretty much have the same match-ups all the time. Of the ten, the major names are Devil Masami, Cutie Suzuki, Plum Mariko and Dynamite Kansai. The other three major names from the old JWP, Harley Saito, Rumi Kazama and Shinobu Kandori are trying to start up their own company which is tentatively scheduled to open in June.
1
The rules of the SWA title are that the champion can only defend against wrestlers from other countries. So if Shirai is champion, nobody from Japan can get a shot. If Storm wins, nobody from New Zealand can get a shot.
1
Will Ospreay has already been offered a regular contract which would make him just about the quickest guy without an international name to get one. He got the offer after one match with the promotion.
1
With ODB as her heel rival, Serena was the most popular woman in OVW, far ahead of the model types WWE had filled the camp with. After a while it got frustrating since they were being called up and she couldn't even get a developmental contract. She eventually got a nose job and huge implants, figuring the size of her nose and breasts were working against her.(...) Even though Cornette pushed her as the top woman in the company, WWE never gave her a thought until she changed her look.
1
Rhino came into the office and asked about his new contract now that he turned on EV 2. Bischoff handed him a piece of paper, which was not a contract, but simply the word “No” and had Fortune toss him out of the building. That was written to be his farewell, although that was certainly one with an open ending. It’s a matter of agreeing to terms and he may not be able to find a better deal elsewhere and in that case, he could be brought back.

Announcer Josh Matthews (Josh Lomberger, 34), and wrestler Madison Rayne (Ashley Simmons Lomberger, 29), were married last month

Mahabali Shera has moved from Nashville to Chicago to train in Lucha Libre under Skayde, who runs a school there.

JWP, after closing down for re-financing, starts back in business on 4/3 in Tokyo's Korakuen Hall headlined by Dynamite Kansai & Hikari Fukuoka vs. Cutie Suzuki & Mayumi Ozaki and they'll be back 4/11 in the same building with Kansai vs. Plum Mariko in the main event.
1
Jeff Katz’s Wrestling Revolution Project taped its first season in Los Angeles this past week. [...] Colt Cabana is doing a new character, a heel who is a failed stand-up comedian using the name Punchline. It was different, but said to be good.
1
Vampiro gave notice that he was quitting the promotion on 12/20. He hadn’t wrestled there in a while and he and creative were on different pages regarding going forward. There had been discussions in recent weeks but the impression I had out of them even before he quit was that they were going nowhere.
1
Jeff Katz’s Wrestling Revolution Project taped its first season in Los Angeles this past week. [...] Kenny Omega, known as Scott Carpenter, was the star, with strong matches against Chris Masters (Known as Concrete) and Killshot (Karl Anderson).
1
Also getting a big push is Mexican national light heavyweight champion, Rush, who on 2/22 at Arena Mexico defeated Ephesto to win the CMLL light heavyweight title using a double foot stomp followed by a Saito suplex. That means Rush, who is 22, became one of the few people in Lucha Libre history to hold both the national and world title at the same time.
1
Another former WWE wrestler, Nick Mitchell, who was Mitch of the Spirit Squad and later the live-in boyfriend of Torrie Wilson (not sure if they are still together or not), was to main event an MMA iPPV show on 12/11 called Pure Combat III in Houston. However, the entire show was canceled when the card fell apart. Jason David Frank of “Power Rangers” fame and Mitchell were the two big stars for a night club show in Houston. Frank’s opponent tested positive for hepatitis and no sub could be gotten. Mitchell was then announced as being injured at the last minute. And 20 minutes before the show was to start, it was then canceled.

Regarding the Kevin Nash deal, as it turned out Nash had signed a TNA contract recently. Nash was always supposed to return to TNA with Sting after they spent most of 2010 building up the storyline where Sting appeared to be a heel to the public and on television only for the reveal at Bound for Glory that it was really Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff conspiring to steal TNA from Dixie Carter but Sting saw it coming, but nobody would listen. If you recall, in storyline, Nash and The Pope were the other two who found out because they were the two guys doing it with Miss Tessmacher and she spilled the beans. As you can see, the long-term on that sure held together, given that Pope was turned heel for no real reason before Sting and Nash ever started their comeback. While Nash had agreed to come back, while he denied it, months back, he just signed fairly recently when they were ready to bring him back when he and Sting were to return on the 1/31 show. I’ve heard several different versions about why things went down the way they did. Dixie Carter publicly admitted she released him when asked for reasons she said were between the two of them. Nash told friends that he signed the contract (he got a significant pay cut because TNA said they couldn’t afford his old deal), even though he wasn’t happy with the money.
1
JWP ran the same building on 3/21 with a JWP tag title change as Devil Masami & Dynamite Kansai won the belts from Mayumi Ozaki & Cutie Suzuki in 29:16 when Masami made Suzuki submit to the boston crab.
1
Jeff Hardy and fiancé Beth had their first child, a girl, on 10/28.
1
Ambrose has been using the double arm DDT instead of the headlock DDT for his go-to move of late. The idea, at least right now, is to make the double arm DDT his finisher since nobody is doing it. Right now the idea is that it would still be called ''Dirty Deeds''.

La Parka (Jesus Escobedo) did his first interview since turning heel at the 10/21 TV taping in Xalapa, which drew 4,000 fans, which was close to full in the smaller arena.
1
Eric Bischoff on the Monday Night Mayhem radio show said he doesn't know what is up regarding Sting other than saying that Sting has told him it has gotten harder, to physically perform at the level he would like to. Sting turns 52 in March. His contract expired at the end of the year.
1
Rayne has a new gimmick wearing a tiara and a sash and waving to the people like Miss America, probably stemming from the fact she was Homecoming Queen in high school.
1
On 8/5, the 20th TripleMania took place as the first match pro wrestling show at the new Arena Ciudad de Mexico that had just opened. The show drew 21,000 fans, the largest pro wrestling crowd in the country in almost five years and what ended up being the largest pro wrestling crowd of this year with the exception of WrestleMania and the New Japan Tokyo Dome show.

Lizmark was born in Oaxaca on December 18, 1950 (most sources listed his birthday as September 18, 1949, but in his death the real birthday came out), but grew up in Guadalajara.
